At least three policemen and two prisoners were wounded on Monday in a blast that targeted police vehicle carrying inmates near Nowshehra, officials said.
According to local police, prisoners had been bringing before the court by the police van when a remote control bomb exploded near Shakai interchange.
Three policemen and two inmates were badly hurt by the powerful blast which completely destroyed police van, police added.
Injured policemen and prisoners were shifted to Nowshehra District Headquarters Hospital for treatment where condition of some persons reported critical.
Security forces rushed to the scene and cordon off whole area for investigation while an immediate search operation was also started.
