LAHORE – The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) – FAST National University (FAST NU) WEEK 2011 opened yesterday (Monday) at FAST-NU Lahore. IEEE-FAST NU- WEEK is a 6 days long event full of fun filled activities and competitions for engineering students which enable them to polish their creativity and scientific knowledge.
Events spreading over the entire week have been planned in collaboration with National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences (NUCES) Circuit Society, Drama FAST and NUCES Media Group, IEEE UET, Highway Buzz team and WIE NUCES. The auditorium was filled to the brim with guests from all over the city at the opening ceremony.
Guests of honor were Rector Fast NU Dr Ameer Ahmed, Lahore Director Fast NU Dr Arshad Hussain and Faculty advisor Lahore student chapter IEEE NUCES Dr Amjad Husssain. Teams from Beaconhouse School System, LACAS, Lahore Grammar School, UET Lahore, PAF-KIET, Government College, University Lahore, Government College and University Faisalabad were preent.
The highlights of the ceremony were Rector’s word, Director’s speech, Faculty Advisor’s thoughts and President IEEE NUCES Namra Nadeem’s starting note. Rector Fast NU said that IEEE WEEK will widen exposure of O/A level and Intermediate students in the field of arts, technology and sciences.At the end of the ceremony, honorable guests were presented by a note of appreciation in the form of bouquets.
IEEE-NUCES hoisted its opening flag, for a week full of roller coaster rides in the form of 22 different competitions. During one of the events, IEEE organized a heart throbbing game named “Do or Die” in which participants had a constant threat of SNAKES. 13 teams participated in the game;but only five teams managed to get short listed for the final round. It is expected that this year IEEE WEEK will be bigger and better than last year.
