The Punjab government to boost the agriculture sector in the province and increase agricultural yields has allocated 392 tractors for Rawalpindi district under the green tractor scheme. So far 2,562 farmers have applied to get subsidised tractors.
According to the district coordination officer (DCO) office sources, 271 tractors have been allocated for Rawalpindi and 723 applications had been submitted for the purpose.
He said that out of the total quota of Punjab government’s green tractor scheme allocated for Rawalpindi district, 17 tractors would be given to farmers of Kahuta, eight to Kotli Sattiyan, 18 to Murree, 45 to Taxila, 18 to Kalar Syedain and 55 tractors to Gujar Khan.
However, around 168 applications from Kahuta, 19 from Kotli Sattiyan, 47 from Murree, 154 from Taxila, 199 from Kalar Syedian and 1,252 applications from Gujar Khan have been submitted in this connection. Applications are being scrutinised for the award of tractors under the green tractor scheme.
