74 Indian defense personnel held in Pakistan since 1971: minister

The Indian government has said that as many as 74 Indian defense personnel, including 54 prisoners of wars, are in Pakistani jails since 1971. According to a report by Press Trust of India on Thursday, Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed told the Rajya Sabha, that another 314 Indians are also in jails in Pakistan. “As on August 16, 2012, as many as 233 Indian civilian prisoners, 81 Indian fishermen and 74 missing defense personnel, including 54 PoWs, are believed to be in Pakistani jails,” Ahamed said.
