Clerics assure district officer of their complete cooperation

Arrangements made for the peaceful passage of Ramadan, by the district government, have been termed exemplary and laudable. A meeting was convened by the District Coordination Officer (DCO) to review arrangements, which was attended by Ulemas of various sects/members, from the District Peace Committee and chaired by the DCO Rawalpindi, Saqib Zafar.  Ulemas said that their proposals presented in previous meetings with the district administration had been implemented and the arrangements made so far in this regard were satisfactory. They said that along with deployment of the police force, volunteers from mosques and committees had been issued passes for security duty. These arrangements had helped citizens perform their prayers in peace. The steps taken by the administration had also helped stop terrorist activities so far and no untoward incidents had yet taken place in the district.

Members of the District Peace Committee present at the meeting included: Allama Pir Syed Izhar Bukhari, Hafiz Iqbal Ahmed Rizvi, Maulana Muhammad Akram Hamdani, Allam Ashfaq Waheedi, Shaukat Abbas Jafferi, Maulana Muhammad Ameen Sialwi, Maulana Mehmud-ul-Hassan Balakoti, Syed Haibat Ullah Shah and Qari Muhammad Younas.
Allama Bukhari said that cooperation by the Ulemas to maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the district were always available to the district administration. The Ulemas wanted to promote further the mutual understanding, harmony and brotherhood among different sects.
The DCO praised the fortitude of Ulemas and their efforts to maintain the law and order situation in the district. He said that religious scholars had always extended their earnest cooperation to the district administration on every critical occasion, and left no stone unturned to avoid any clashes between followers of different sects. He also paid tribute to the Ulema for their role in maintaining peace during Ramadan, Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) and Muharram-ul-Harram. He expressed hope that this mutual cooperation would be continued in the future. The delegation assured the DCO that they would extend their cooperation whole heartedly to the district administration during this sacred month.
