Despite purported increase in electricity generation, the demand-supply gap appears no where near lessening and load shedding continues per routine across the country amidst humid July heat. The shortfall of electricity has reached 4,151MW, due to which 10 to 12 hours of load shedding is being conducted across urban areas of the country, making the life of the people miserable. In rural areas, farmers have been left in a fix as they have no water to irrigate their crops due to the shortage of electricity. The figures issued by Energy Management Cell on Saturday said the demand of electricity was 17,652MW, while the supply was recorded at 13,501MW.
