PM’s disqualification

Finally, the PM was sent packing. The Supreme Court declared Yusuf Raza Gilani disqualified from holding a seat in the parliament from the date of his conviction, 26 April, by a seven-member bench in contempt of court case. This is the result of repeatedly denying and disrespecting the superior judiciary’s verdicts. It just does not end here. Time demands a lot more in putting things on the right direction. NRO beneficiaries who plundered and looted national wealth should be taken to task. The SC should speed up the hearing of pending cases. The judiciary should settle the missing persons’ case and punish those who took them away. It should also give the directives to the election commission to ban all politicians involved in corruption and other crimes. Dual nationality holders should also be banned. The time has come to call a spade a spade.
