Landhi and Korangi roads to be completed soon: Administrator KMC

The Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Muhammad Hussain Syed said that construction of Korangi 14000 and 15000 Road will be completed in next 20 days with a cost of Rs 213 million whereas the rehabilitation work of Korangi Causeway and Korangi Crossing Roundabout will be done in the current financial year.
He expressed these views while addressing the review meeting of development works presently underway in Landhi and Korangi.
The meeting on Saturday was attended by DG Technical Services, Altaf G. Memon, Chief Engineer Mehmood Hussain Baloch and other concerned offices and engineers.
Administrator Karachi said already 70 percent of construction work of two and a half kilometer long Korangi 14000 Road was completed with a 22 feet wide green belt. This road will be made green and clean with the tree plantation. RCC pipes of 12 and 18 inch dia were used for drainage of rain water.
He said that the citizens of Landhi and Korangi would get better travel facilities after completion of these works and the residents of adjoining areas would get rid of the accumulation of rain water and closure of road for traffic at the Koarngi Causeway.
Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed expressed hope that the development works underway in Landhi and Korangi areas would be completed in time. Director General Technical Services Altaf G. Memon meanwhile paid a visit to development works in Landhi and Korangi on the directive of Administrator Karachi.
He briefed the meeting about the progress of work and said that the construction and rehabilitation of 14000 and 15000 Road will be completed in time.
He also gave details of the works being carried out in the area. Administrator Karachi directed the technical services department to ensure maintenance of quality in construction of roads.
He said that the durability of project must also be taken into consideration.
He further said that he will personally inspect the construction works of road next week.
Medical college to be set up in Landhi: minister: A medical college would be established in Karachi’s Landhi area.
This was stated by the Sindh Minister for Health, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed. He made these remarks while inaugurating the newly installed dialysis machines at the Landhi Medical Complex on Friday.
The four dialysis machines along with the related equipment has been installed at a cost of Rs. 15 million. The Minister said it would help kidney patients who are on dialysis and that they can get the treatment in this regard in area closer to their homes.
He said four dialysis machines and the related equipment has been acquired from the fund of the Member National Assembly Asif Hasnain.
Dr. Sagheer said it is the vision of the chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain, that the health facilities be made available to the people especially the poor at their doorsteps.
He stated that the foundation stone of a medical college in Landhi would soon be laid. The Minister said this would be a good news for the people of the area. He further informed that a children’s hospital would also be established.
