The kidnappers of Shahbaz Taseer, son of slain Punjab governor Salmaan Taseer, on Friday doubled the ransom amount from Rs 2 billion to Rs 4 billion for his safe return, media reports say. Earlier, sources said the abductors had demanded Rs 2 billion from the Taseers as ransom for Shahbaz’s release.
Last week, Shahbaz’s mother went to the kidnapers to deliver the ransom amount, but the deal was cancelled due to the ongoing property issues within the Taseer family. The kidnappers have now doubled the ransom amount. Shahbaz Taseer was abducted on August 26 last year. Meanwhile, Shahbaz’s wife posted a message on a social networking website, saying that her husband was a loving and brave person. She added that the Taseer family would leave no stone unturned for the early release of Shahbaz Taseer.
