Auto festival

Recently, I went to Lahore for a few days to visit my in-laws there. While there, I had a chance to visit the Expo Centre in Jauhar Town where a super cars and bikes show was in progress.
There were nice old vintage cars and motor bikes on display, emitting roaring ears breaking noise from time to time. There were a number of stalls as well which were displaying auto industry related machinery and equipments.
One stall attracted my attention also like it was attracting others. The bill boards there made a pointed mention of a small innovative gadget which was based on a foreign technology, tested and tried by a number of international organizations which could give as much as up to 25 percent saving in fuel consumption without compromising on the mileage one has to travel around. Since I am one of the millions of the motorists who are hit hard every time petrol prices are hiked, I got the literature from the young boys who were manning that particular stall.
I have since returned to Karachi and given this idea some thought and come to the conclusion that there is certainly no harm in giving the innovative gadget a fair try to find out how much the claims of the manufacturers and the importers are true. I think even if the fuel saving is somewhat less than that, there is some saving still.

  1. Please don't waste your money – this scam has been around in western countries for the last 30 or 40 years – shows up as advertisement in car magazines. A given car engine has a set efficieny; the calories in the fuel is also set . There is no gadget that can change these two variables. You would have better luck keeping the tires inflated properly, driving at uniform speeds, keeping the vehicle in generally good condition ( oil change, lubrication etc.)
