After the brazen attack on Bannu Jail by the banned Tehrek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which was one of the biggest Jail break in country’s history, the interior ministry on Friday revealed that TTP’s Punjab wing was planning to attack Karachi Prison.
According to report by a private TV channel, the Crisis Management Cell of the interior ministry has issued letter to the Sindh government in which it was informed that TTP’s Punjab wing has prepared a secret plan to launch brazen attack on the Karachi Prison in order to release their comrades.
It was also revealed in the letter that besides attacking the prison, TTP’s Punjab wing has also plans to target various government installations in Sindh province.
The letter further said that leader of the defunct group had also arrived in Karachi to implement the plan.
The major aim of the TTP to attack Karachi Prison is to release its ranks and files who were arrested and imprisoned in various crimes by the law enforcement agencies.
It is pertinent to be mentioned here that TTP was successful in launching brazen attack on Bannu Jail from where they got released dozens of hardcore insurgents on 15th April including Adnan Rasheed who was sentenced to death in a case to kill former President Musharraf.
After failing to nab the fugitive prisoners of Bannu Jail, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government have initiated crack down against the officials for negligence to duty.
