Sindh Women Development Department in collaboration with UN Women and Asian Development Bank is organizing a one-day forum on “Strategic Dialogue on Addressing the Concerns of Formal and Informal Women Workers in Policies and Programs,” on May 22.
Organizers of the program on Friday said since the devolution of powers under 18th amendment in the constitution the role of women development department has widened and as such it is presently engaged in formulation of policies for gender equality and women empowerment.
With reference to policies that may address the concerns of formal and informal women workers they said this has been taken as a priority issue as 79 percent of women in rural areas work in the informal sector and are often exposed to social injustice.
Objectives of the forum scheduled for Tuesday were said to link the concerns of women associated with formal and informal sectors and also to incorporate needs of home based workers within broader humanitarian response, rehabilitation and reconstruction.
Issues related to women workers, from different sections and categories would be discussed threadbare by all concerned stake holders while recommended interventions will be incorporated into the development policies and strategies. Sindh Minister for Women Development Department, Tauqeer Fatima Bhutto will chair the program.

No male vaccinator will be sent to girls schools

No male vaccinator would be sent to any girls school in connection with the anti-Hepatitis campaign in the schools. This was stated by the Sindh Minister for Health, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed, here on Friday. He stressed that this directive should be strictly maintained or else departmental action would be initiated against the violators. Meanwhile, the Minister took strict notice of the media reports that in connection with the anti-Hepatitis campaign male vaccinators were sent to a girls school in Karachi. He ordered an inquiry in this connection in order to determine as to who are responsible for this. The Minister also warned that such incidents would not be tolerated in future.
