Last visit?

On the 9th of this month the convicted PM went for the possible last ride to UK for a five-days visit along with his entourage including media persons. On his way he was seen giving the usual boastful interview to the willing and obliged members of his team.

He is going to spend the much needed foreign exchange, lack of which is making our dear countrymen pay through their noses. But, who cares? This regime and that of the PML(N)’s also spent lavishly like the Mughal emperors. And look, the IPPs are about to invoke the sovereign guarantee’s against the state for non payment of about rupees 34 billions.

The timings of the present visit is totally un-called for. Nearly one third of the population is living below poverty line. There is nothing that is called good governance. Most of our political rulers fail to show sympathy towards the problems of masses. Loadshedding, corruption, mismanagement, jobless youth and law and order situation is the worst in the entire Pakistan’s history.

People have started targeting politician’s homes and offices besides ransacking the Wapda offices in various places. It started with Vehari yesterday. This is the first sign of anarchy. The rulers are having a “jolly good time” and least worried about the collapse of law and order. Why are they in deep slumber? Don’t most of them who are in position really care?

Is there any leader worth the name who can guide the people? We lack the real leadership qualities amongst the present lot. A leader lives and leads by self example. If the top leaders also equally share the same loadshedding, then I do not think the masses will do all such destructive activities.

Am I asking for too much from the self-centred politicians? I am constrained to mention the dictator Ayub Khan who resigned when a few thousand persons protested against the rise of sugar price by quarter of a rupee. But does the word “resignation” no more exist in our leaders’ dictionary?

  1. The list of free riders accompanying the PM includes many in the media, who had no issue with ethics in going on this trip.

  2. Pity the nation which has pseudo intellectuals–Men who cannot resist temptation of free junkets–Yet consider themselves of higher intellect—Pity the nation whose Fourth pillar is as corrupt as its custom officers—pity these empty vessels whose sole right to fame is their accident of birth.–not their personal integrity or principles.
