A request to CJP

Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan, my brother was working as chief engineer for the company undertaking mining at Reko Diq.

The case against the company has not only placed our future at stake, considering the dearth of employment opportunities, but has also closed the door of development and opportunities direly needed in the underdeveloped province. Employees have lost their jobs and their families suffer in these inflationary times adding to the grievances of the already aggrieved people of Balochistan.

With estimated $3.3 billion investment at stake and 83 percent of employees at Reko Diq from the province of Balochistan, the ongoing litigation has aggravated to the sufferings of people as several employees including my brother have lost their hard earned jobs not to mention the overall economic and financial opportunity lost for the most backward province of Pakistan.

I, therefore, request the Honourable Chief Justice of Pakistan to dispose of the case early in the best interest of the people of Balochistan and Pakistan.

Whatever the nature of truth may be but the article clearly portraits the reality that the people and their families are facing and something needs to be done about it
