Water reservoir in Dadu

Sometime back, the Sindh government decided to build water reservoir “Nai Gaaj” in Dadu in order to save rain water and use it for constructive purposes. President Asif Ali Zardari, in view of technical advice of Wapda, directed them to complete the project. There was no harm in doing so for the simple reason that this is the only project of its kind launched so far in Sindh.

It is sorry to say that as per press reports, an unnamed source related to Planning Commission has termed it as a diversion of resources to Sindh at the cost of Balochistan.

It is a fact that no mega development project was ever launched during the regimes of Nawaz Sharif (two tenures) and ex-military dictator General (retd) Pervez Musharraf benefiting the sons of soil in Sindh (more than a total period 17 years). In view of this, if one or two projects are launched in Sindh, there is no harm in it. Terming this as a diversion of resources is highly regretful and objectionable and such assertion is wrong.

When Sardar Aseff (now in PTI) was Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, he in flagrant violation of the Constitution, manoeuvred the ownership of gigantic Thar coal deposits in Sindh to the federal government and a notification was issued in this regard by Prime Minister Gilani. Afterwards, on hue and cry of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, this unconstitutional notification was taken back.

I hereby warn Planning Commission as well as Wapda to stop creating hatred against Sindh forthwith in the interest of national unity.
