The formation of liberation armies seems to have become quite fashionable in the country as Monday revealed the hidden centrifugal forces in Sindh having formed a Muhajir Province Liberation Army (MPLA). The country already has a Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) fighting for the independence of the resource-rich Balochistan. The MPLA, from unknown whereabouts, dispatched what Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri called “threatening letters” to almost all of the provincial lawmakers hailing from the interior of Sindh. “Leave the Muhajir provinces and go back to Sindh and dwell there along with your families,” requested the letter undersigned by a “well wisher” from the MPLA. Titled as “Vacate the Muhajir Province” the letters have, reportedly, been received by at least half a dozen provincial ministers and a host of legislatures. However, Marri said, “I think all (lawmakers) must have received the letters”. Humera Alwani, the PPP lawmaker in the Sindh Assembly, visited the Karachi Pres Club on Monday and handed copies of the letter to the media. The MPLA letter claims that the formation of a Muhajir Province was imminent with the help of “patriotic forces”, especially the Pakistan Army. “After undergoing socio-economic and politico-educational exploitation we have concluded that we can live with Sindh no further,” read the letter attributing the statement to the “Muhajir nation”. “Muhajir province would be last nail in the coffin of those dreaming of Sindhu Desh,” said the letter which the lawmakers, Alwani, received through TCS with address of the sender given as Tipu Sultan, House No 15/26, B-1 Area, Liaquatabad, Karachi.
