Balochistan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi has said the Balochistan issue will not be resolved until the army, intelligence agencies and elected representatives make joint efforts.
He was talking to reporters after awarding presidential awards to various personalities in recognition of their outstanding performance at the Governor’s House on the eve of Pakistan Day on Friday.
Balochistan Chief Minister Aslam Raisani and a number of provincial ministers also attended the ceremony.
The governor said the development of province was not possible until educated people came forward in politics. He said in the presence of uneducated politicians, the dream of development could not come true in the country.
Referring to the deteriorated law and order, he said army, intelligence agencies and elected representatives would have to work together for the solution of Balochistan issue otherwise the issue could never be resolved. He said stubborn attitude would further complicate the situation instead of helping to improve it.
To a query, Magsi said currently there was no leader in the mountains if that was not true he (Magsi) might be informed. He said Nawab Khair Bakhsh Mari was in Karachi, Sardar Attaullah Mengal in Wadh while Gazain Marri and other Baloch leaders were in London and other countries.
Magsi said after passage of the 18th Amendment he had no power and even could not appoint a clerk because all powers were being enjoyed by elected representatives and as far as law and order and dialogue with dissident Baloch were concerned, the chief minister and his cabinet might be asked in that regard. To a question, the governor said currently he had neither authority to solve the issue of Balochistan nor was asked to do so. He said those who were not ready to accept Pakistan how one could hold talks with them, adding both Balochistan and Pakistan were inseparable.
Earlier, Magsi distributed awards amongst different personalities for their outstanding performance in various fields.
