The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Wednesday submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly against the government’s recent move to increase electricity tariff by 16-46 percent.
The motion stated that there is always an increase in the name of inexplicable fuel price adjustment plan to cover the country’s budget deficit.
“The government has brought miseries to the lives of poor by implementing such policies,” the motion stated.
The motion also highlighted a report published by the State Bank which revealed the country’s economic instability and uncontrollable surge in the inflation rate. Still, the motion said, the incumbent rulers are ignoring plight of the poor and only engaged in their personal interests.
The opposition urged the house to open debate over the matter for relief of the masses.
