The Kasur Police on Thursday registered a case against a PML-N MNA for allegedly contesting the election having a fake degree. Per details, Rao Mazhar Hayat Khan contested the last general election in 2008 from the constituency of NA-138 of Kasur. When the issue of fake degrees arose in the country in which many legislators were declared ineligible, the rival group of Khan also filed a complaint against him in the ECP for having a fake degree. The ECP sent Khan’s documents to the American University for verification and found bogus. On Wednesday, the ECP sent a letter to the Kasur sessions judge that ordered DPO Khurram Ali Shah for the registration of case against Khan. After consultation with the higher authorities, the B division police registered the case no 149 under Section 199, 200 and 471 of PPC. It was learnt that Khan got 58,832 votes against his rival candidate Sardar Tufail Ahmed Khan of the PML-Q who bagged 39,986 votes in the general election of 2008.
