Zardari reiterates commitment towards Balochistan progress

Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani and newly-elected senators from Balochistan called on President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadar on Thursday. The newly elected senators included Ali Madad Jattak, Nawabzada Saifullah Magsi, Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hasni, Rosi Khan Kakar, Muhammad Yousaf Baloch and Sabir Baloch. The president congratulated the senators and expressed hope that they would work with full devotion for strengthening democracy and democratic institutions in the country by actively participating in the legislative business of the Upper House of parliament. He said he was confident that the elected senators would play an active role for the welfare and development of their respective areas and safeguard the rights of the people of Balochistan. Matters relating to developmental projects, law and order and political situation in the province and the implementation status of Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan package also came under discussion during the meeting. The president reiterated commitment of the government to the uplift of the province and expressed hope that mega development projects and other speedy measures under the package would help address grievances of Baloch people and bring Balochistan at par with other provinces in terms of socio-economic development. The senators-elect appreciated the leadership of the party and the government for strengthening democracy in the country and for various steps being taken for addressing grievances and removing the sense of deprivation of the people of Balochistan. The senators assured that they would dedicate their efforts to espouse the cause of democracy in the country besides safeguarding the rights of the people of Balochistan.
