Vegetable prices at Sunday bazaars go up

The prices of most of vegetables saw an upward trend at the city’s Sunday bazaars as compared to the last week, however, the prices of tomato, onion and chicken witnessed significant decrease while the prices of fruit remained stable.
This week, the prices of tomato and onion witnessed a decrease of Rs 6 per kg and Rs 3 per kg respectively while chicken prices witnessed a decrease of Rs 20 per kg. This week tomato was sold at Rs 30 per kg, onion was sold at Rs 31 per kg and chicken was available for Rs 147 per kg.
According to price lists, the prices of gourd, ladyfinger, pumpkin, bitter gourd, brinjal, and beans witnessed increase in prices. Gourd was sold at Rs 60 per kg against the last week’s rate of Rs 50, ladyfinger was sold at Rs 120 per kg and pumpkin was sold at Rs 50 per kg as compared to last week’s rate of Rs 40 per kg.
The prices of brinjal also witnessed an increase of Rs 6 per kg. This week brinjal was sold at Rs 46 per kg against the last week’s prices when it was available for Rs 40 per kg.
The prices of turnip also recorded an increase of Rs 4 per kg. This Sunday, turnip was sold at Rs 18 per kg as compared to last week when it was available for Rs 14 per kg. The prices of lemon also witnessed an increase of Rs 4 per kg. This week lemon was sold at Rs 80 per kg. However, the prices of potatoes, peas, garlic, ginger and cucumber remained stable. According to list, cucumber was sold at Rs 40 per kg, potatoes were sold at Rs 16 per kg, ginger was sold at Rs 84 and garlic was sold at Rs 88 per kg.
The prices of almost all the seasonal fruits remained stable. This week apple (Kalani) was sold at Rs 170 apple (golden) was sold at Rs 120. According to list, banana was sold at Rs 70 (best quality) and Rs 35 (normal) and oranges were sold at Rs 70 (Punjabi) and Rs 120 (Khanpuri) per dozen.
