LAHORE – Investigation agencies find themselves in a difficult position, as they probe into the killing of parents of Supreme Court (SC) Justice Javed Iqbal, Pakistan Today has learnt. Police think that fingerprints collected from the telephone used by the murdered couple might lead to a breakthrough in the murder case. Lahore Police sources told Pakistan Today that investigators have grilled 11 persons including four women and two watchmen but have made no progress so far. According to sources, investigators have almost cleared two tenants including Kiran and Iram, two watchmen and six other people during the course of interrogations.
According to sources, investigators on Wednesday sent blood samples for DNA tests and police forensic experts have also sent fingerprints collected from the murder site to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) in order to trace the killers. Investigators are considering these fingerprints very important and only ray of hope in tracing the killers, an investigator said, seeking anonymity.
According to sources, police have tried to develop sketches of the suspects but the 11 people questioned in this regard had not seen any suspects. According to sources, police have collected recordings of CCTV cameras installed at a petrol pump located few streets from the murder site, but nothing important was present in the recordings. Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Aslam Tareen said that investigators are grilling maid Farzana, who used to work at the house from 9am to 12pm. Some investigators suspect the incident as a dacoity-cum-murder but nothing is final in this regard.
