KARACHI – National Party (NP) Senior Vice President Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo appealed to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Wednesday to support the thousands of missing persons of Balochistan.
Bizenjo was leading an NP delegation that held a meeting with MQM Rabita Committee Deputy Convener Dr Farooq Sattar at the Khursheed Memorial Hall.
He hoped that the MQM would support the Balochistan cause as it had in the past.
The NP leader said that the people of Balochistan are unable to provide education to their children because of unemployment. “Such children are then exploited by religious extremists,” he added.
“Young boys in Balochistan are kidnapped from the streets and their disfigured corpses appear the next day. The Balochistan government has publicly revealed that 900 people are missing in the province, but the real number is much more than that.”
Talking about the 18th Amendment, Bizenjo said that provincial autonomy should be given to real representatives of Balochistan, so the problems of its citizens could be resolved.
“All liberal forces should unite to fight the increasing religious extremism in the country. There is a need to defeat the so-called clerics. The liberal forces should issue a joint statement, saying that religious extremism cannot eliminate democratic forces.”
