All the way from China to the commercial hub of country


KARACHI – A Chinese delegation of 100 young members visited the University of Karachi (KU) on Wednesday in connection with a memorandum of understanding signed between Pakistan and China to exchange the youth of both countries for promoting an interactive environment on both sides. The members of the delegation included artists, workers, students etc.
Talking to the delegation, KU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Pirzada Qasim said that the year 2011 should be regarded as the year of the Pak-China friendship because both countries share a strong bond.
An evidence of this everlasting friendship is the collaborations, which are in process in various sectors of both countries.
He said that despite having a good relationship, we need to encourage the youth of both countries to interact more and we should provide them opportunities that can bring them closer.
“Major global problems can be resolved by mutual collaboration among our youth,” he said.Deputy Secretary for All China Youth Federation Zhouzhinmin, KU Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahana Urooj Kazmi, ICCBS Director Prof Dr Iqbal Chaudhary and others were also present on the occasion.
Student’s Advisor Prof Dr Ansar Rizwi welcomed the guests and lauded the relationship between Pakistan and China. Pakistani students also shared their views about Pakistan’s relationship with China with the delegation and showed interest in working for future collaborative research projects.
The delegation was later taken to the ICCBS, where Prof Dr M Iqbal Chaudhary informed the members about the high standard of research currently being conducted at the Hussain Ebrahim Jamal (Research Institute of Chemistry and Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research.
The delegation appreciated the quality of the research linkages with many Chinese institutions.The delegation members were offered traditional ajraks and flowers. Similarly, the Chinese delegation presented various gifts to the students and faculty of KU as a gesture of good will gesture.
