Talks with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) are only possible if the party avoids politics of guns, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Saturday.

Talking to reporters about a possible alliance with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Khan said the party would have to declare their assets for an alliance with the PTI.

He blamed the Punjab government for the deaths of patients at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology in Lahore caused by spurious drugs. “The Punjab government alone is responsible… be it crime, law and order or corruption, which area have they showed improvement in?”

Khan said PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari shared similar interests.

Calling them “the two brothers”, he said Zardari and Nawaz had always been together. “They are together because their interests are the same.

Their money is lying in foreign banks,” the PTI chief said.

Khan said they would not do anything to remove each other from power. “They have been together for four years, how can they blame each other of conspiracy now?” he asked.

Expressing fear that transparent elections might not be possible under Zardari’s leadership, he said his party would still participate in the next general elections.

Khan said Zardari and Nawaz would not be able to stop his “political tsunami” and his party would challenge all other political parties in the elections.

Calling the Balochistan issue an issue of “grave concern”, Khan confirmed that he planned to talk to Baloch leaders – even those in exile.

He said keeping in view the seriousness of the law and order in the province, his party was preparing a comprehensive package that could be acceptable to all Baloch parties. He said his recent meeting with Baloch leader and former Balochistan chief minister Akhtar Mengal had remained fruitful.

Later, addressing the students of LUMS, Khan said no one could stop the tsunami of the people.

He said the youth of the country were disappointed due to unemployment and other such issues and wanted a change in the country.

The students raised slogans in favour of Khan while he stressed that they should develop leadership qualities as only the youth could steer the country to prosperity.

  2. Who ever comes to power, they will form an alliance with MQM. If Kaptaan thinks its necessary, then i trust him. Im not really for another PML-n or PPP government to destroy this country even more.

  4. Nobody has personal issues with MQM, if it leaves terrorism than nobody has problem to dialogue with them.

I can bet even if PML-N need MQM to form government, Mr. Ishaq Dar will meet and dialogue MQM.

I really feel sorry for IK who thinks that MQM will abandon politics of guns, The fact is that MQM thrives on violence. .

  6. If MQM leaves arms and talks to PTI it will be a graet victory for people of Pakistan and IK as no one ever been able to persuade MQM to leave politics of terror
