A unique opportunity

As a cricket enthusiast, I avail every opportunity to witness and enjoy even a friendly match. Such matches, in fact, are played in plenty in Model Town, Lahore, in particular on weekends.

On this weekend, I happened to witness a 30-over each side friendly match being played in the White Ground of E Block between Mobilink Infinity and Future Technologies. There were banners of both the playing teams one of which was about Panther which it said was a fuel saving equipment meant for Petrol, Diesel and CNG run cars and affected a saving of fuel consumption up to 25 percent.

In passing, I may also mention here that there was no representation of either print media or more regretfully of electronic media though the organisers claimed they had invited many. Perhaps, the media people had their own priorities unknown to an ordinary sports lover like me.

Leaflets were being distributed among the guests. I also got one. This gave more information and knowledge about the fuel saving equipment claiming it as a technology innovation which has been successfully tested and examined in a number of foreign countries and also was now available in Pakistan.

If the federal and provincial governments are blind to such fuel saving equipments’ availability, the motorists in the private sector can at least give these gadgets a fair try and see whether the manufacturers and suppliers claim of saving up to 25 percent fuel is true or not. This may help in reducing the increasing financial burden on their pockets.

And, in the meantime, the friendly match was won by Mobilink Infinity team. Irrespective of winning or losing, more such sporting activities are needed to be organised, patronised and encouraged in order to put across a positive and soft image of the people of Pakistan before the world at large.
