Columnists and other journalists were present at the launching ceremony of Yasir Pirzada’s book “Zara Hat Kay 2” at Alhamra on Sunday evening.
The latest book is a sequel of Pirzada’s previous work, Zara Hat Kay 1”. The two are compilation of the published columns various writers. The event was presided over by Intezar Hussain, while the chief guest was Justice (r) Javed Iqbal. Dr Mehdi Hassan, Hamid Mir, Abdul Rauf, Ata-ur-Rehman and Bushra Ijaz were amongst the distinguished speakers. The speakers lauded the efforts made by the comparatively young column writer Yasir Pirzada.
Bushra said Yasir had attained the fame through the use of facts and scientific reasoning.
Wajahat Masood said the young writer was a great example of the new Pakistan. His columns were realistic and had a reflection of the writer’s hometown, Lahore, he added. Ata-ur-Rehman said Yasir’s columns added a new shade and colour in the column writing. He said the prolific writing of Yasir had set a new standard for the upcoming young writers. Hamid Mir analysed the book in a critical manner and said he had violated the tradition of politicised columns. Dr Mehdi Hassan said Yasir’s work should not be related to his father’s work, as he had made his own place in the world of column writing.
