LAHORE – Pioneer Cricket Club officials on Sunday reviewed the performance of the club and identified the best performers of the club during the year 2010-11.
Pioneer Club president former international umpire Rab Nawaz presided the meeting while secretary Sohail Javed Butt presented thw annual report. Pioneer Club played 77 matches which is LCCA record for a club that does not have its own ground.
It won 25 matches, lost 50 and two were washed out. Opener Nadeem Butt made 3334 runs with eight centuries and 29 fifties in 74 matches and won the best batsman award.
Khawaja Abid was the best all-rounder, Hasan Azam best bowler while the best wicketkeeper was Ali Raza. Best fielder was Khadim Hussain. The 47-year old Nadeem Butt also won the best captain award completing 1706 matches as captain which is another LCCA record.
In 23 years, he won 644 matches. Pioneer Club has in its records 1600 matches press clippings of 23 years. MNA Umar Sohail Zia Butt who was the chief guest of the meeting, praised the club’s activity.
