A condolence meeting was held at the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) Karachi centre in memory of renowned playwright and journalist Zubair Abbasi, who passed away at the age of 67 recently.
PTV’s Managing Director Yousuf Baig Mirza, Deputy Managing Director Hammad Ghaznavi, Karachi General Manager Mustafa Kamal Mandukhel, Executive Programme Manager Zartaj Ali and Public Relations Officer Shakeel Ahmed along with all heads of the national television’s departments and the staff paid tribute to the famous dramatist and offered Fateha for his departed soul.
Abbassi started his professional career as a journalist and then started creating plays for television, where he received great applause for his impressive writings on social issues. His famous plays include Nisf Sadi, Chodhveen Raat, Haar Jeet, Meher-e-Neem Shab, Hi-Fi Bakra and Kiran. Abbassi is survived by his widow, a son and two daughters. He was the father of television actor Shamoon Abbasi.
