With artistic, cultural, literary and educational programmes held throughout the year, the Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) portrays a soft image of the city of Karachi to the world, said Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed.
He expressed these views while talking to an ACP delegation which called on him at his office on Wednesday.
Earlier, Syed had handed over the annual grant check to ACP President Ahmed Shah.
“Rise of literary, educational and cultural activities is considered a good sign for any society,” he said. “Nations that protect their cultural heritage never see a downfall.”
The city administrator said that organisations like ACP should especially patronise new artists, writers and poets so that they could be encouraged and the current generation can deliver people who promote the name of our country in the world.
“The KMC has decided to hold weekly programmes in the city that would include sports events, paintings exhibitions, literary programmes and events for special children,” Syed said.
Thanking the administrator for providing the annual grant, ACP President Shah said it would help the council to continue its literary and educational activities.
ACP Vice President Mehmood Ahmed Khan, Community Development Senior Director Muhammad Rehan Khan and District Officer Khurshid Shah among other officers were also present on the occasion.
