The Punjab Assembly (PA) session had nothing to do with Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani’s appearance in the Supreme Court (SC), Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Wednesday.
He was holding a press conference at the PA cafeteria. Sanaullah said that a resolution against President Asif Ali Zardari or the PM in the PA was not on the cards but if such a resolution was presented, the Punjab government might consider passing it. He said that the Punjab governor had returned some bills after raising some objections but the Punjab Law Department did not find anything objectionable in the bills due to which the bills would be sent to the governor again for final approval. Criticising PPP leader Senator Dr Babar Awan’s attitude, Sanaullah said that Awan and some other PPP leaders had led the federal government to its logical end. “Aitzaz Ahsan is a professional and wise man and after appointing him as head of the PM’s legal team, I hope that Aitzaz will give the best advice to Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani,” he said, adding that Awan had bagged the legal practicing license only to extort money from his clients.
Sanaullah alleged that everyone knew that Awan had even looted the people involved in the Bank of Punjab loan scam. He said that there wad no restriction in talking to any other political party but the PML-N did not have any contact with the PML-Q.
