The gas crisis has made life miserable for the common man. It can be added to the already long list of issues that has been mishandled by the PPP government. It is true that none of these problems are of the incumbent government’s making (the blame for encouraging reckless use of a scarce natural resource lies with the previous one) but it is also true that they have been aggravated by its indifference and wrong policies.
For example, the gas shortage has been staring the admin in the face for quite some time. But they only decided to act on it when it hits them squarely on the head. It is high time that the government rationalise gas prices, initiate a policy of responsible use both in industries and households and import some at reasonable prices as soon as it can. The government is already coming to its senses too late.
