An annual prize-distribution ceremony was held at Bahria College in the federal capital on Saturday. Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Asif Sandila graced was the chief guest.
The students, clad in colourful costumes, presented spectacular performances of their artistic and creative faculties through a variety of skits, plays, songs, tableaus, dances amid loud cheers from the engrossed audience.
While giving away prizes to the students excelling in academics and co-curricular activities, Admiral Asif Sandila appreciated prize winners for their splendid performance.
He said, “We have to evolve an education system that could counter the cyber tech age and new challenges.” He advised the students to be more receptive and curious without restricting themselves only to textbooks.
He said the students should work honestly so that they could lead the nation to progress and prosperity. He also impressed upon the teachers to put in their efforts and adopt new teaching methodologies and techniques for testing and evaluation for better training of youth. He also desired that the faculty should not forget their primary task of character building. He assured the college administration that the Naval Headquarters would continue supporting all educational programmes designed for the betterment of the students.
Earlier, in his annual report, the Bahria College principal mentioned the achievements of Bahrians. He claimed the college was providing quality education for overall personality development of a child. In highlighting the excellent performance of the students at SSC and HSSC as well as O and A Level examinations, he told the audience that Amna Farouk secured overall second position in pre-engineering group while Umm-e-Laila Shigri secured second position in science general group in the Federal Board HSSC annual examinations 2011, whereas Muhammad Ilyas Zafar secured overall first position in pre-engineering group in Federal Board HSSC-I annual examinations 2011.
The function was attended by a large number of guests, including senior military officials and parents of the students.
