Express 24/7, Pakistan’s only 24-hour English news channel, decided to shut down on Monday night after three years of transmission, according to media reports.
Express 24/7 CEO Sultan Lakhani, citing revenue drop as the reason for the closure of the channel, blamed a dismal economic environment, coupled with a lack of advertising support which resulted in dwindling revenues thereby making it financially untenable to continue airing the English language channel.
They tried and they tried well in fragmenting media and making it a better place.
Full marks to express team for that. Ups and downs and wins and losses are all part of the game. At least they tried. Good bye Express 24/7, it was nice having you around 🙂
yess
Yes
well-we have an Example of AL-Jazira Channel
why not this only a source to Int’l world to reveal our contry’s Emostions
^ and poor English skills :oP
by the way express 24 /7 was american funded channel and offcourse it was following american given line. Urdu channels r working well for them so they dont need this one any more
any solid proof for this ?
If express was funded by the americans then it wouldn't have shut down. I actually do know that the lakson group did put up their own equity & took out debt on their own assets & had investors etc for express 24/7. If it actually was primarily funded by the americans it would run regardless of ads & current economic situation. although it did favour the US and play safe with current government issues. It wasn't anything close to al jazeera in terms of blowing off the lid on real issues and on ppl that need to be focused on.
so sad
PAKISTAN TODAY should have their own channel 🙂
Why?
Yes..English news channels can easily survive if they primary focus on Business news…. market updates.. I think BUSINESS RECORDER or Pakistan Today should have a English News Channel with the Same Brand Name 🙂
what was the reason????
Y not now a days eng. Is a vomen language and we can fight better with the internationsl media and represent our case stronhly
no they cant…………there is no following of english chanels
it seems not as dawn also reverted into urdu, although it waz gud
That is remarkably sad news 🙁
Mery khyal meain ye sad news nahin hy , iss say pehly DAWN news walay bhe English meain apna channel chala kr tajarba kar chuky heain or unheain akhar kar urdu meain apna channel chalana para. mery khyal meain hum awam ko ye samaje lena chahiye ky urdu zaban meain he hamri taraki ka raz chupa hy . ajj nahin tu kl hameain apni anay wali nasloun ky liye faisala karna ho ga ky hum English ky sath apni jahalat ko kaim rakhna chahty heain yan hameain apni asal zaban ki taraf lotna chahiye. Log pasand nahin karty ess cheez ko jo unheain asani sy samje na aye. Hameain urdu ko he apnana ho ga har sata per japan or china ki tarha.

In a country where around 35 percent of population is deemed as litterate which counts for those who know how to sign, in reality may b a 15 percent of the population is driving media in Pakistan
WELL TRIED EXPRESS
PTV network should take it over. They can run it without a pence of revenue.
express news is the best media of the world
Express 24/7 is my favorite and it is a good way to improve our English. Our government should finance it and make it like BBC world news.
I think this is not sad or glad but I would suggest that there should be english news channel in Pakistan because most of people want to improve their english as it is international news and almost every official literature is in english although they can read news papers but pronoun cation can not be improved until we heard it so channel is best source for it.
100% agree with Mr Gulfraz
i think it would great loss of elimination of express 24/7
because it was demand of only specific class who belongs to (a) class or business class.
