Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Husain Haqqani has departed from US and will arrive in Islamabad tonight, according to local media sources.
A source confirmed to Pakistan Today that the government had been asked to summon Hussain Haqqani to Pakistan for a “briefing” to establish the authenticity of the ‘memo’ and trace its origin.
It was alleged that Hussain Haqqani delivered ‘secret memo’ sent by President Asif Ali Zardari to the US administration seeking help against a possible military coup.
Earlier, Haqqani had written a letter to President Zardari and offered to resign from his post over the issue of the memo, which was reportedly sent to Mike Mullen.
Haqqani said that he offered his resignation to send a message to those trying for destabilising democracy.
He added that he had neither written a memo nor he delivered any letter. “The memo was just an excuse and democracy was the real target” Haqqani said.
While talking to a local television channel yesterday, Hussain Haqqani said that he can not travel immediately as doctor has ordered him to rest due to health problems.

I think we should give up scandalising. We have had enough of it. I am not a fan of Hussain Haqqani but there are certain quarters who have time and again tried to get him removed. I watched a TV program last night in which four senior analysts participated and gave a verdict that he would not return immediately. By the way, these analysts do not analyse out of love of country, it is their profession and do it for their bread and butter. He is on his way back and all of them have been proved wrong. I wonder if they have the moral courage to come on TV and admit their wrong analysis.
He should be recalled as Ambassador. It has become fairly clear in last three years that his loyalties are with his Masters in Washington and not with Pakistan.
It seems that it's just a drama of the current government and like the previous governments as usual to divert the attention of millions unemployed persons, crushed people by load shedding living without generaters or UPSs and suffering their electrical or electronic equipments like fridge, AC, e-iron, juicer blender, or PCs, face travelling problems by local transports in cities or country wide, face problems in government's hospitals, face trouble in education, incapable to bear the sky high prices of daily usage materials like veg, meat, milk, tea, sugar, and to find justice in courts.
Hussein Haqqani is not any ordinary man otherwise he or any other ambissador can never be appointed on such high level post while millions of better people live in Pakistan but are failed to get an ordinary job in any high commissioner's office without a strong link in this government or in the past. I am sure that the current government is also repeating the history of the past governments and history of Yazeed. The government persons, their share holders, relatives and friends can save themselves in West or in Europe perhaps but I am sure they will not be saved before the supreme power of the universe who blessed them all facilities but they failed. Allah may guide them towards the right way for the better life of the poor awam.
