The cost of the war on terror

The decade-long war on terror might be in its final throes but its aftereffects may last for a decade more. On one hand, it has devastated the economic clout of the country while on the other, it has wedged apart various communities of Pakistan. Reeling under a debt of more than $54 billion, our industry has come to an almost standstill due to too much power outages.

The war against the terrorists has now turned into an all engulfing super war. The very fabric of our social cohesion and integrity has been replaced with a discontent and distrust. This has to change, or we won’t be able to call ourselves a nation.
