Police arrested 17 people in various raids in the city on Wednesday. Two men, suspected of involvement in targeted killings, were arrested from a house in Khawaja Ajmer Nagri. However, police were reluctant to reveal the identity of the arrested suspects.
Jackson police arrested Abdul Jabbar, allegedly involved in the murder case and recovered a weapon from his possession.
The Anti-Car Lifting Cell nabbed two alleged vehicle lifters from Sohrab Goth and recovered 15 motorcycles from their possession.
The Sharafi Goth police also arrested a motorcycle snatcher, Ahsan, from a house in Qaddafi town and recovered motorcycles and a weapon from his possession.
Two street criminals, Tasawar Malik and Sikandar Mirza, were caught looting a medical centre. Police recovered two TT pistols, five mobile phones, cash and other valuables from the two men, who are accused of involvement in over 40 street crime cases in various areas including Kharadar, Preedy, Shershah, Pak Colony, Chakiwara and Baldia Town. The Quaidabad police arrested two criminals, Salman Ali and Salman Shah, after a brief encounter while their three associates escaped from the spot. The arrested men are suspected of involvement in robberies and killings. Four people, including an alleged target killer, were arrested by the Malir police from Ghazi Town after an encounter. They were identified as Zubair, Naeem, Ghulam Mustafa and Shahnawaz. Four TT pistols were recovered from their custody.
A police official said that Zubair is a target killer affiliated with a political party. The Darakhshan police also arrested three men who were robbing a house at Khayaban-e-Rahat in Defence. They were identified as Shahmir, Khadim Hussain and Zahid. The police recovered three pistols from their possession.
Killings: Police found a body at a poultry farm in Manghopir on Wednesday. Another body with a gunshot wound was found at a dairy farm in Khokhrapar.. Separately, Ahmed Saeed was shot dead by unidentified people in the jurisdiction of North Karachi police station while he was going home.
