The credit of victory

Recently The Times has published a report revealing the US support to the Taliban for opening of their office in Qatar by the end of year 2011. Such a clandestine endeavour by the United States seems to be a ploy to preclude the possibility of Pakistan having any say in Afghanistan’s future dispensation. Such attempts have been made in not only Afghanistan but in the FATA areas, where thousands of Pakistan security forces troops are guarding the frontiers and engaged in operation against the militants.

The Americans have of late unilaterally stopped sharing intelligence with their Pakistani counterparts, but they demand from Pakistan active intelligence sharing as well as action on ground that often lead to deaths and collateral damages.

Such an attempt is made to garner full credit for them, and the cooperation of Pakistan government and security forces is undermined, despite the fact that recently a number of people associated with Al-Qaeda and so-called Quetta Shura were arrested with the help of Pakistani agencies.

So much so the Americans do not want India, their strategic partner, to take credit. Virtually the enmity of India against Pakistan has been replaced by the enmity of Americans against Pakistan. The Indians are happy that the powerful Americans have started fighting their war against Pakistan whereas there had been a tradition that the Americans have always taken sacrifices of others for their own people. Why they are directly engaged without involving the Indians on the front is because the Americans do not want to let the Indians claim victory and the share in the resources of Afghanistan and probably Balochistan in the post-war period.

The other reason is the war industry which the Americans possess. The Americans use and test mostly the untested modern and sophisticated weapons in the wars, like recently they did in Libya and in a demonstration to sell weapons, they showed videos of destruction near Tripoli to allure biddings. With such weapons of mass destruction in which their own casualties, they do not want to ‘hire’ other nations to get the job done on their behalf. Such a hostile and possessive mindset is dangerous for the rest of the humanity.
