Burying head in the sand

The institution of police is considered to be the most corrupt in Pakistan and probably the most disliked by the citizens also.

Although the police have proven from time to time their effectiveness in the hour of need, but the overall situation of the institution is appalling. As long as the corruption remains, the distrust will remain in the citizens.

It is not just the corruption that is disturbing, a serious lack of interesting performing their duties is also worrisome. Though they are mandated to provide security to the public, they seem to have failed in their duties as crime rates in the city are increasing day by day. Every day brings some tragic news of robbery, murder or theft among many petty and street crimes. It is imperative that sweeping reforms should be carried out, while the citizens should also be sensitised on their rights and responsibilities.
