Pakistan started its journey in August 1947 with great hopes but with very low raw material in terms of political leaders and administrators. Now Pakistan has come to the point where it is passing through the worst ever phase of its history.

Political fragility, economic instability, massive illiteracy, huge poverty and above all religious intolerance have left no stone unturned to enhance the miseries of poor Pakistanis.

Recently, the honourable judiciary announced its decision about Mr Taseer’s case and gave a death penalty to the accused.

I was socked to see the name of some officials who were related to the case on the screen of a private TV channel. The same story was repeating in almost every TV channel. I think, in this environment of religious bigotry, the mentioning of the names of the officials who are doing their job is not an encouraging trend. It can provide new targets to the reluctant minded people.

Media should avoid such mistakes and show responsibility while broadcasting such issues. The information ministry should also formulate a mechanism to avoid such unpleasant happenings.
