KARACHI: The federal government has decided that the Quaid-e-Azam Mazar Management Board (QMMB) would be reconstituted by giving representation to new members, who could actively render their services to make the board more effective.
This was decided at the 78th QMMB members’ meeting held on Friday under the chairmanship of Federal Environment Minister Hameedullah Jan Afridi.
The participants of the meeting discussed the beautification of Mazar-e-Quaid and deployment of armed security guards in its premises as well as along its outer periphery.
They also discussed buying a power generator and constituted sub-committees to finalise all formalities as regards purchasing weapons and promptly managing other requirements of security guards.
QMMB members proposed consultation with different federal and provincial departments for deployment of personnel to perform various functions at the mausoleum.
The meeting was attended by Federal Environment Secretary M Javed Malik, Joint Secretary Iftikhar Rahim, Deputy Auditor General Malik Khadim Hussain, Special Home Secretary Kamran Dost, Additional Home Secretary Qamar Ahmed Khan, Additional Accountant General Agha Muhammad Ansar, Brig Asif Akhter, QMMB Resident Engineer Muhammad Arif and other board officials.
