They may have slipped past the Secret Service at a 2009 state dinner, but Tareq and Michaele Salahi have not gone quietly, the ABC news channel reported. First, a reality TV programme, then White House party crashers and now a very public split after eight years of marriage. Much like their life together, the apparent breakup of Tareq and Michaele Salahi is playing out in front of the cameras.
Tareq Salahi filed for divorce Friday in Warren County, Va. “She continually exposes our friends and acquaintances to her adulterous relationship and has flaunted the same throughout the community, the nation and indeed the world, and thus caused me to suffer great harm, humiliation and embarrassment,” Tareq Salahi said of his wife in court documents.
Just last week, the couple tweeted a photo of themselves backstage with the band Journey and guitarist Neal Schon. It all started Tuesday with a desperate tweet, when Tareq Salahi claimed his wife had been kidnapped. “I’m scared to death for her I hope she’s not trapped in a place where someone is holding her,” he tweeted.
He said his wife was going to get her hair done Tuesday morning but never showed up at the salon. He said she then called late Tuesday night from an Oregon cell phone number. “She wasn’t being herself as if somebody was standing over her, as if somebody was right there so something was wrong, I could tell,” he said. .
“Deputy Mike Glavis spoke with Mrs Salahi by telephone a few moments later,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “Mrs Salahi seemed calm, was engaged in conversation, and assured the deputy that she had left the residence with a good friend and was where she wanted to be,” the statement said, adding “Mrs Salahi advised that she did not want Mr Salahi to know where she was,” The divorce filing comes as the couple’s winery is being auctioned off in a bankruptcy sale.
