LDA joins dengue combat

Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Director General Abdul Jabbar Shaheen said on Sunday that free Complete Blood Count (CBC) test facilities were being extended to people visiting LDA’s Dengue Diagnostic and Treatment Centre, Township. LDA Senior Medical Officer Dr Nisar Ahmed said that the centre was functioning from 8am to 8pm and test reports were being provided in ten minutes.
He said that they had deputed paramedical staff comprising of two laboratory technicians, two laboratory assistants and two nurses and five beds had also been provided in the centre for treating patients suffering from dengue fever.
Meanwhile, LDA directed all private housing schemes of the cityto carry out anti-mosquito spray and fogging in order to curb the dengue menace from the city. LDA spent Rs 2 million in order to ensure that free blood test facilities were provided to the people.
On the directives of LDA director general, fumigation and anti- mosquito spray was carried out in the 13-storey LDA Plaza, situated at Egerton Road.
Two special teams, headed by deputy directors of the Metropolitan Planning Wing of LDA, comprising other officers and staff, had visited as many as 21 private housing schemes in the city during the past two days to ensure anti-mosquito spray in these areas. These teams urged the developers and sponsors of these schemes to arrange and repeatedly carry out sprays in these localities. The LDA staff visited Revenue Employees Cooperative Housing Scheme, Military Accounts Cooperative Housing, Passco Employees Cooperative Housing Scheme, Punjab Government Employees CHS Phase-IV, Judicial Employees Cooperative Housing Scheme Phase-I Extension, Judicial Employees Cooperative Housing Scheme Phase-II, Judicial Employees Cooperative Housing Scheme Phase-III, Tariq Gardens, Tricon Village, Eden Villas Model Town Extension, Class IV Employees Housing Society.
