Six private hospitals have offered their facilities to supplement the government’s efforts to fight the virus by opening the doors of teaching hospitals for the treatment of dengue patients. This offer was made in a meeting held in the Allied Hospitals Chief Executive and Rawalpindi Medical College Principal Professor Dr Muhammad Afzal Farooqi’s office and chaired by the Dengue Virus Monitoring Committee Chairman Member of National Assembly Muhammad Hanif Abbasi and District Coordination Officer Rawalpindi Saqib Zafar, according to a press statement.
The meeting was attended by the Holy Family Hospital Captain (r) Muhammad Fayyaz, Bilal Medical Centre Chief Executive Officer, Colonel (r) Gohar Nawaz, Ahmed Medical Complex Manager Manzoor Ahmed and management officials of other private hospitals. Ahmed Medical complex in Sadiqabad, affiliated with Islamic Medical and Dental College Islamabad, offered 30 beds, Aziz Nursing Home offered 30 beds, Bilal Medical Centre offered 15 beds, Social Security Hospital IJP Road had graciously offered 100 beds, Railway hospital offered 16 beds and Islamabad international Medical College Hospital offered 10 beds and diagnostic and treatment facilities to dengue virus patients in the city.
Farooqi said government teaching hospitals had accepted the challenge to cope with the situation but in case of an increase of the number of patients, the private hospitals’ services could be utilised. Zafar said the private hospitals would fight side by side with the city district government against dengue virus.
