The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has decided to shut down its hydrants linked to the Pipri Pumping Station.
KWSB Managing Director Misbahuddin Farid ordered the closure of these hydrants due to ‘frequent power failures’ at the Pipri Pumping Station that has hampered water supply to a major part of the city.
The KWSB chief has directed the officials to keep these hydrants close till the supply of water is normalised in the affected areas. According to a KWSB official, areas of Landhi, Korangi, Malir, Akhtar Colony, Defence Housing Authority, Qayyumabad, Mehmoodabad, Shah Faisal Colony and other adjoining areas have been affected due to shortage of water.
Hydrants would be reopened once the supply of water to these areas is normalised, said the official.
