The Punjab and federal governments have locked horns over a new formula for the allocation of Zakat funds to the provinces, a private news channel reported on Thursday.
The Federal government has formed a new formula for dividing Zakat funds among the provinces, but the Punjab government has rejected this new formula as it loses four percent of its due share under new formula.
It is pertinent to note that earlier Punjab had already sacrificed its four percent share of 7th NFC Award for other provinces and now the federal government is trying to get four percent of Punjab’s Zakat share by introducing a new formula.
