After the reinstatement of local government system in Sindh, the former district coordination officers (DCOs) and executive district officers (EDOs) in all provincial districts have reportedly been asked to report to their offices from today (Tuesday). The town municipal officers (TMOs) have also been directed to assume charge of the offices they held before the introduction of the commissionerate system. Well-placed sources told Pakistan Today that former DCOs of Karachi and Hyderabad, Mohammad Hussain Syed and Aftab Ahmed Khatri, have been instructed to resume their duties and discuss the future course of action with their respective EDOs and TMOs in order to manage district government affairs. Earlier, Lala Fazlur Rehman had been running the City District Government Karachi (CDGK) affairs, under direct supervision of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)-backed Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad and Information Technology Minister Raza Haroon. Interestingly, Rehman was the only officer directed to report to the Sindh government’s Services, General Administration and Coordination Department (SGA&CD) after the revival of commissionerate system. Karachi was the only city being managed by two officers, the city administrator and a DCO. The DCOs (administrators) for the rest of the province include: Inamullah Khan Dharejo (Sukkur), Abdul Aleem Lashari (Larkana), Muhammad Abbas Baloch (Khairpur), Ahmed Bux Khokhar (Sanghar), Muhammad Jaffar Abbasi (Thatta), Dr Sajid Jamal Abro (Jacobabad), Zulfiqar Ali Shah (Naushero Feroze), Dr Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo (Shikarpur), Jamal Mustafa Syed (Benazirabad), Muhammad Iqbal Memon (Dadu), Agha Wasif Abbas (Badin), Ghulam Hussain Memon (Mirpurkhas), Makhdoom Shakeeluzzaman (Tharparkar), Zahid Ali Abbasi (Ghotki), Samiuddin Siddiqui (Jamshoro), Saeed Sualeh Jumani (Kashmore), Yasin Shar (Kamber-Shahdadkot), Abdul Majeed Pathan (Umerkot), Saqib Ahmed Soomro (Matiari), Syed Barkat Ahmad Rizvi (Tando Muhammad Khan), Muhammad Abbas Baloch (Khairpur) and Dr Shafqat Hussain Abbasi (Tando Allahyar). The CDGK’s EDOs include: Altaf Hussain Memon (Works and Services), Mohammad Masood Alam (Municipal Services), Dr Syed Saifur Rehman (Enterprise and Investment), Mrs Rehana Saif (Community Development), Atique Baig (Transport and Communication), Zahid Najeeb (Literacy), Roshan Ali Shaikh (Revenue and Finance), Iftikhar Ali Kaimkhani (Master Plan), Muhammad Ramzan Baprani (Agriculture), Shabbir Ahmed Jokhio (Education), Amir Khurshid (Information Technology) and Dr Nasir Jawaid Sheikh (Health). However, the sources said that the final decision for the approval of DCOs would be made by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah once he returns from Islamabad and the notification regarding the administrators’ appointment would be issued by midnight.
