7 injured in LPG cylinder shop fire on Bund Road

LAHORE: Seven people received burn injuries when a fire erupted due to gas leakage in a LPG cylinder shop at the Bund Road in Islampura Police Station precincts on Sunday. According to Edhi officials, the fire erupted in a LPG cylinders shop owned by Rana Mudassar at the Bund Road near the Taj Company in Islampura Police Station precincts when someone threw a burnt cigarette near a leaking gas cylinder. As a result, the cylinder exploded and the fire engulfed whole shop.
After hearing the blast, citizens gathered around the place and tried to extinguish the fire but the blaze kept on spreading and engulfed six other shops nearby including a barber shop, dry cleaner shop, PCO and a grocery store. Seven people including Amir, Imran, Irfan, Inayat, Bilal Khan, Arman Khan, Badar and Sohail received minor burn injuries while trying to extinguish the fire.
Fire brigade and Rescue 1122 officials reached the spot after being informed and extinguished the fire after an hour of hectic efforts. Rescue officials also shifted the injured to the Mayo Hospital where their condition was reported to be stable.
According to Rescue and Edhi officials, the fire reduced valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees to ashes. Separately, valuables worth thousands of rupees were gutted when a fire erupted in a house owned by Salim located in H-Block Sabzazar Scheme.
Also on Sunday, valuables worth thousands of rupees were reduced to ashes when a fire erupted in a house owned by Dr Tariq Mehmood, a resident of Madni Colony, located in Mughalpura Police Station precincts. Rescue 1122 and fire brigade officials reached the spot after being informed and extinguished fire.
