ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has summoned eleven lawmakers on Monday to hear the cases pertaining to their either fake or invalid degrees.
The lawmakers would appear before a committee of the ECP headed by ECP Joint Secretary Afzal Khan to defend their degrees. Two national assembly’s members summoned by the hearing committee are Mazhar Hayat and Mir Hamayun Aziz Kurd while the members of provincial assemblies are Seemal Kamran, Mazhar Hayat, Saima Aziz, Malik Iqbal Ahmed Langriyal, Nasim Nasir Khawaja, Wali Muhammad, Yar Muhammad Rind, Syeda Majida Zadi, Samina Khawar Hayat, Khalifa Abdul Qayum Khan, Sardar Ali, and Ijaz Ahmed.
A senior official in ECP said that ECP hearing committee would send the guilty lawmakers’ cases to Deputy Police Officers (DPOs) concerned for the registration of first information reports by the end of December.
