IHC grants interim bail to former PEPCO MD

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday accepted the interim-bail of former managing director Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) Tahri Basharat Cheema in Karkay Rental Power reference.

The bench accepted the accused bail against surety bonds worth Rs500,000 and also sought reply from National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

A divisional bench of IHC, comprising Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, heard the bail plea of Cheema.

The petitioner’s counsel Amjad Iqbal Qureshi pleaded before the court that the NAB’s investigation officer had summoned his client in the reference. There were chances for Cheema’s arrest, he said.

He said that his client was ready to fully cooperate NAB in this case and prayed the court to grant his client pre-arrest bail.
